Wednesday Yankee: Superb opportunity…

A nice win for yesterday’s nap Victory Command (7/2 into 15/8 SP), reconfirming the effectiveness of 3yos at this time of the year.

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Superb Story, (1930 Kempton), 1pt win, 9/4:

A formerly useful but injury plagued hurdler who was a Cheltenham Festival winner a few years ago. Made another comeback here recently and although beaten 11 lengths behind second behind today’s rival Sassie that was a freaky race in which the leaders pinched a massive lead. Superb Story looked like he could have won a more conventionally run race and should prove it here.

Lever De Soleil, (1500 Musselburgh), 9/4: was competitive off this low mark when with Tim Easterby last Summer. Has since had a busy winter hurdling for his new Irish yard finishing at Fairyhouse on a mark of 125. That ought to reflect improvement and would suggest he has something like a stone in hand here. That may not translate in full, but in part would be good enough.

Tribal Warrior, (1530 Musselburgh), 9/4: a lightly raced 4yo making his seasonal reappearance here. In form James Tate brings him, and only him, all the way from Newmarket and that looks significant with the horse having made a similar journey here for success last year.

Characteristic, (2000 Kempton), 5/1: a lightly raced 3yo in this company and very interesting after an eye catching comeback run here in April. Looked well beaten but rallied in style to be beaten narrowly in the end. Looks on an interesting opening handicap mark and is very much the unknown quantity in a field of mostly familiar faces.
