England‘s victory over India in the weekend has brought qualification for the semifinals back into focus. They just need to bear New Zealand today.
That said, the Kiwis are a talented side who disposed of England in brutal fashion in the last World Cup, dismissing them for 123 and getting those runs in under 13 overs.
England will be favourites, but the odds surrounding their team will be too short for us to get involved knowing the risks. Instead we’re going to look at the NZ side.
Although they have won five of their eight group games, they have lost their last two. They have not been helped by the poor form of their openers, particularly Tom Latham. This means the choice of top NZ batsman is really down to two (famous last words!) – Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor.
Taylor is the bigger price at 5/1, but we’ll take captain Williamson at Paddy Power’s enhanced 11/4 as he has been in scintillating form this tournament.
Recommendation: Williamson to be leading NZ batsman, 1 pt, at 11/4, Paddy Power
