The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Leo Davinci, (1550 Yarmouth), 1pt win, 15/8:
An improving 3yo miler he followed up a cosy Redcar win with a desperately unlucky second in a ladies race at Leicester. Only 2lbs high for that defeat and can continue his progress against these mostly older opponents.
Battle Of Wills, (1400 Haydock), 10/3: fairly lightly raced but was a tough winner at Nottingham before being thrashed into second last time. That though was behind one of the best handicapped horses of the season and the third has won again since suggesting it was no bad effort. Appeals slightly more than the favourite’s second at lowly Chepstow.
Punjab Mail, (1530 Haydock), 13/2: potential weakness at the head of the market here with soft ground form, claimer form, and a horse who is 0 from 22 in handicaps each vying for favouritism. Punjab Mail could be the answer as a less exposed 3yo. He put up a career best despite not getting the best of runs at Donny, and if he can progress again then he can mug the market leaders here.
Highland Acclaim, (1915 Epsom), 3/1: 8yo veteran with course form of 171131321, with those wins coming off marks in the mid 80s. Hasn’t shown much form lately but now turns back up at his favourite track off just 77. The opposition does not look particularly frightening and all is set up for a return to his best.
