Monday Yankee: Groundhog Day at Ayr….

A cosy winning nap yesterday as Nicholas T (7/4) surged home. A win for Global Spirit should have unlocked a big Yankee win, but the earlier two legs were close but lacked luck at crucial stages. Knocking on the door…

NAP OF THE DAY: Harome, (1530 Ayr), 1pt win, 10/3:

Had been bubbling under nicely with unlucky 6ths in big fields at York and Epsom. Then disappointed badly here before leaving that behind with an easy win here in lower grade yesterday. Worth chancing that he’ll find his confidence from that and two runs in two days is rarely an issue for there sprinters.

Ventura Royal, (1910 Ripon) 5/1: the long absent Flying Raconteur looked unlucky on comeback but he’ll need to back that up here from a tricky outside draw. Things are easier for Danny Tudhope riding Ventura Royal as a front runner with an inside draw. This course suits front runners hugely, and he looks sure to be gunned from the stalls given he was only just caught over a longer trip last time

Agravain, (1940 Ripon), 5/2: another front runner who should adore this track. Was well beaten here two runs ago but that was a really hot race. Made all easily at Beverley a few days ago and worth chancing he can better that previous course effort in a field that doesn’t look too daunting.

Sameem, (2010 Ripon), 5/2: continuing the theme, another front runner Sameem appeals as the only 3yo against older rivals. Completely outclassed at Royal Ascot last time but this is much more his level and he can hold off the older brigade.
