A day of what was, and yet what might have been for blog subscribers after today’s tips delivered a topsy turvy ride.
We were off to a flying start when 6/1 Nap Tis Marvellous, backed into 9/2 absolutely routed his field at Ascot.
Later, our York outsider fancy, Pivoine, 14/1, proved what a liking he had for that idiosyncratic course when surging through to win the prestigious John Smith’s cup, in doing so landing a 104/1 double on the Daily Yankee, and a near 9/1 return on stakes.
The less said about a dismal last leg of the yankee the better, but the sense of what might have been came from Solar Gold’s narrow defeat in the Bunbury Cup when “winning” her side of the race but going down by a diminishing half length to Frankie on the other side of the track. By such narrow margins…
Nonetheless, a good day.
