Sunday Yankee: Good Call…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Soldier’s Call, (1510 Curragh), 1pt win, 9/4:

Tempting as it is to suggest blog pet El Astronaute, the likelihood is that he will get overhauled in this class. Soldier’s Call is entitled to reverse form with Garrus on revised weights, and is likely to have improved for that seasonal debut as he showed when a superb third in the Group 1 Kings Stand at Royal Ascot. On that effort he also hold Equilateral who would have preferred less rain. Hard to see him beaten under the flying Danny Tudhope.

Greengage, (1530 Redcar), 3/1: was desperately unlucky at Ayr recently on only her second run since import from Ireland. She has been raised just a pound for that, which looks generous give the form is working out pretty well. Reliable veteran Luke Morris takes the ride and she should pick this up if she can repeat that Ayr effort.

Little Clarinet, (1620 Curragh), 7/1: we napped her when she won here four runs ago, but have left her alone since. That since has been busy with three quick runs finishing 542. She has had very little luck in running, and may be worth backing now she is back at this track, over her ideal trip, and seemingly well drawn. This is a race longer on numbers than quality, and she can triumph.

Trossachs, (1730 Curragh), 7/4: broke his maiden at Limerick and has since followed up with two handicap romps both here and at Leopardstown. It can be hard to peg back an improving 3yo stayer at this time of the season, and although he is up another 12lbs for his last win, it would be a surprise if he still wasn’t too good for this small field.
