A Lapoftheodds staff photo would quickly expose the extreme falsehood of that headline…..but it is to Musselburgh we head for the Yankee on a fairly threadbare Tuesday.
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Compton’s Finale, (1600 Musselburgh), 1pt win, 4/1:
Irish raider with form on turf in Ireland of 22nd of 23, last of 30 and 7th of 8, yet still went off at just 6/1 when a very comfortable winner yesterday at Ayr. That may not have been a great race, but clearly the market suggested improvement was expected and the performance was a smooth one. This is slightly stronger event, but even with the 6lb weight penalty he must have a strong chance to get back to back wins in two days.
Junior’s Fantasy, (1400 Musselburgh), 7/2: still a maiden after 9 runs but has registered three runner up efforts in his last four runs. Last time he was always prominent at Hamilton and led until headed near the line going down in a photo. That is a stiff track, this is more sharp and suits front runners. Drawn to attack in stall 1, it would be no surprise if jockey Fentiman kicks him on from the off and doesn’t see another horse for the whole race.
Mujassam, (1500 Musselburgh), 3/1: an intriguing clash between course lovers Mujassam, Gabriel The Tiger and Donnelly’s Rainbow. They all look sure to feature with Gabrial likely to try and set out to make all. Mujassam has been running really well of late, was beaten at Epsom last time by a horse who has won again since, and is perfectly boxed in stall 2 to track the likely strong pace, and then nip past for the win late on.
Sosian, (1630 Musselburgh), 9/2: not always the most consistent filly, but then that’s why she is rated just 49. Has often looked as though this small step up in trip would help, and goes well for excellent apprentice Davis. A few of these like to lead and that could set things up for a stalking horse, perfect tactics for this fella,
