The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Super Florence, (1710 Catterick), 1pt win, 7/1:
This filly made a splash on her first course appearance here when making all to win by a wide margin. Her next effort here saw her overhauled by today’s favourite Extrasolar. That winner is 6lbs lower here, but Super Flo is a full 15lbs lower. That’s a consequence of a subsequent loss of form, but her recent efforts have all been under sub-optimal conditions, including when hinting at better last time over an inadequate 5f. Drawn to attack herein stall 1, and these fillies can burst into form with the sun on their backs. Well worth the risk.
Rosie Royale, (1530 Bath), 5/2: twice a winner over this course last Summer, and hinted at a return to form when fourth here two runs ago. Surely enough that translated into a good Chepstow win last time, and even a 4lb rise for that leaves her below her winning marks here last year. Goes 1f further than any previous winning trip, but was doing all her best work late on last time, and a mare in form is always worth following.
Spirit Of Zebedee, (1640 Catterick), 4/1: course form here reads 461133514, and he is back on a winning mark of just 50. Has run pretty well in big fields at less suitable tracks the last twice, with a 6th of 18 at Thorsk and 4th of 16 at Ayr. Has still been generously dropped a few pounds for those decent efforts, and now back at the scene of 3 of his 4 turf wins he looks set to improve that excellent record.
Waseem Faris, (1905 Sandown), 9/1: was impressive when winning this race last year off just a 1lb lower mark. Lost his form shortly afterwards on higher ratings, but after a seasonal debut he showed his liking for fast ground at Bath with a tidy win and decent subsequent 3rd. Needs to be forgiven a poor show at Salisbury last time, but that has at least seen his mark drop agan, and it is his evident liking or this track that appeals as repeat winners are a feature of this idiosyncratic sprint chute, and he is the only previous course winner in today’s line-up.
