Well the tide turned for us in spectacular fashion yesterday with a bumper Yankee payout, and we hope to keep surfing that wave today…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Game Player, (1500 Goodwood), 1pt win, 15/2:
Plenty to like here and connections of Dark Vision have clearly prepped him with this in mind. But the draw is a massive influence and he is far too wide. The inside five draws are the place to look, with stall 1 providing 5 winners this century. That is where we find the improving Game Player. Jockey Andrea Atzeni will be forced to take the dangerous inside route, and this horse was badly scuppered by such an outcome last time when he should have been an easy winner. That said, there should be enough pace to stretch the field, create gaps, and allow a route to glory for Game Player.
Bercasa, (1710 Galway), 9/2: we profited from the twice-in-a-week theory for Galway yesterday with One Cool Poet. We’re happy to repeat the trick here with Wednesday’s winner Bercasa. That was a weaker race and she gets a 7lb penalty, but there was no disguising the ease of her win, and after just five hurdles runs there remains plenty of scope to be well handicapped. Did a lot of her own donkeywork from the front earlier in the week, but has a stablemate here in Lucky Icon who may well cut out the pace and give Bercasa a chance to play here cards a bit later.
Top Of The Charts, (1815 Galway), 9/1: a cast of old regulars line up for this valuable Plate consolation prize. Many are arguably on the decline, but a young talent, the 5yo Top Of The Charts has snuck in (ironically) at the bottom of the weights. He is from the flying Cromwell yard and is one the few in here who can legitimately claim to still be on the rise. This will be his toughest test yet, but he is improving rapidly and that’s a huge differentiator here.
Mr Adjudicator, (1850 Galway), 4/1: unfortunately not going for a repeat Galway win, having been desperately unlucky when our nap here on Monday. On the plus side he is obviously hugely well handicapped and will surely not be as unlucky this time. On the downside this is just 12f compared to the previous 2m. That will test his speed, but with plenty of pace in the race it will hopefully be enough of a test of stamina to bring his top class jumps form into play.
