Tuesday Yankee: Wind to blow away rivals…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Isobar Wind, (1850 Ripon), 1pt win, 5/1:

Trainer David O’Meara has a live contender here with improving nursery debutante Schumli who ran a very promising third last time. As such it has to be a huge sign that stable jockey Danny Tudhope, on board last time, and in an all-out pursuit of the jockey’s title chooses instead to get off his stable’s pick for an outside ride on Isobar Wind. He was on board this visored gelding when he broke his duck by storming 6l clear in a course and distance seller last time. It may be a stronger race today but the time in that last race was quick, and Tudhope was clearly impressed.

True Romance, (1505 Catterick), 4/1: had shown form over hurdles this Summer before returning to the flat to overcome trouble in running for a Musselburgh win. Only up 4lbs probably as it was a close three way finish but they pulled a long way ahead of the rest, and 4lbs may be unduly generous. Jockey Graham Lee has been lethal of late and he can follow up on this one here.

Baryshnikov, (1625 Newbury), 7/1: has run pretty well in this three 3yo handicaps this season, running a fair 4th at Ascot last time. He is the only 3yo here against older more exposed sorts and as such may have most progress to find. Trainer Ed Walker reaches for first time cheek pieces, coupled with the booking of Andrea Atzeni, it reads like a declaration of intent.

The Stalking Moon, (1710 Catterick), 7/1: 2nd here on 2yo debut then a comfortable winner here off 67 on his only subsequent visit two years ago. A poor run of form at the start of the season sees him back down to 62, and his last two runs have shown promise. Ran on the same day as favourite Bea Ryan last month and over the same trip and was much the faster of the two on times. Worth backing finally returned to Catterick.
