NAP OF THE DAY: Stay Forever, (1650 Salisbury), 1pt win, 3/1:
A young filly who seems to have found her sweet spot of late, with a good second here and most recently a last-to-first victory show at Sandown. Only 2lbs higher due to the narrow margin of victory but looks good for more of that. Still improving and should have enough to beat old-timer and blog favourite Air Of York.
Texting, (1450 Salisbury), 7/2: lightly raced filly who seems to be improving rapidly, winning well at Yarmouth and then bettering that by some margin in victory at Ascot. That form seems to be working out really well, and a 4lb rise looks more than fair.
Invasion Day, (1530 Beverley), 3/1 a good handicap for Beverley with frequent winner Archie Perkins a strong contender. But the most interesting one here is ex-Irish Invasion Day. He often looked capable of good form in Ireland and a mark of 82 could translate very well. Trainer O’Meara does well with his imports and if there is one here that could be thrown in then it’s surely this one.
Dutch Coed, (1600 Beverley), 17/2: another strong Beverley handicap and Nigel Tinkler’s runner may have been overlooked. He ran up a treble starting here under today’s jockey Rowan Scott. That sequence ended last week at Haydock under a less experienced rider, but that was a farcically slowly run race in which this horse ran against type by making the running. Plenty of pace on here should allow resumption of normal hold up tactics, and he may not have stopped winning yet.
