Premier League: Killer Kurt…

The late game in the Premier League this afternoon pits Chelsea and Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts have had an eventful start to the season, a drubbing at Old Trafford, and then a Super Cup penalty shootout defeat in Istanbul by Liverpool. Still, despite two losses, there have been signs that there is something to this new Chelsea side. They played well in patches against Manchester United and were probably the better side midweek.

It’s true the Chelsea backline has looked susceptible to pace, and in Jamie Vardy they will face one of the league’s quickest, but the midfield has looked full of creativity. Mason Mount looks a talented player and his set piece delivery is excellent.

With this in mind we’re going to take a chance with Kurt Zouma scoring today. The big central defender has looked the focal point for set pieces and Leicester could have a soft middle given Harry Maguire’s late departure.

The early game sees Premier League newcomers Sheffield United hosting Crystal Palace.

The Blades started their season with an encouraging draw at Bournemouth and will fancy their chances against a Palace side that looked pretty lifeless first time up at home to Everton.

However, last season Palace were a dangerous side away from home, with only Manchester City scoring more away league goals in 2019. A large part of that threat centres around Wilfried Zaha, and he started the season on the bench. Now back in full training we expect Zaha to start today and to cause the home defenders problems.

With this mind, we’re going for Palace to score a penalty today. Their spot kick taker is Luka Milivojevic who scored 12 goals last season, of which 10 were penalties. He’s only 100/30 to score anytime but Palace are 8/1 to have a successful spot kick. We’ll take that.

Recommendations:

Chelsea/Leicester: Zouma to score anytime, 1 pt, at 12/1, BetFred

Sheffield United/Crystal Palace: Palace to score a penalty, 1 pt, at 8/1, bet365
