The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Pink Flamingo, (1440 Brighton), 1pt win, 2/1:
Some old Brighton regulars here but this looks likely to rest between two 3yos. Tin Hat has won both runs here and is only 3lbs up for his last win here. On a line through Big Lachie there is little between him and fellow 3yo Pink Flamingo. Flamingo recorded an excellent time when winning here two runs ago and was a decent second at Ascot. Apprentice find of the season Cieren Fallon could make all the difference on board the Flamingo, with his gift of a 5lb claim.
Esspeegee, (1540 Brighton), 4/1: more local specialists and few are more beloved than local legend Roy Rocket, with 9 course wins over the years and having returned to form last time. But he is a 9yo now, and Esspeegee is a 6yo with a record of 3 from 3 here. The last of those wins was off 68, and poor form since sees him return off just 59. His last two runs have looked like turning the corner, and the return to his favourite track looks well timed.
Lady Mascara, (1610 Brighton), 2/1: well bred and consistent in her recent narrow handicap defeats. Hasn’t had many runs and hence is more creditably a maiden than some of there longstanding maiden rivals, is bred to be at least as good as this mark, and jockey Marquand should be riding with plenty of confidence having had a blistering summer. It will be a surprise if she doesn’t break her duck here.
Lady Dancealot, (1705 Kempton), 9/4: was a very easy winner when last on this surface defying a mark of 80. She has been consistent on turf without reaching those heights and her marked has slipped back to 82. Probably should have won though last time at Newmarket when getting going too late under today’s pilot Gerald Mosse. That alone is enough to make her a decent bet here, but if she improves for the return to the track and surface of her finest performance then she should be a good thing.
