Thursday Yankee: Follow the Lady…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Dark Lady, (1540 Salisbury), 1pt win, 8/1:

Warm favourite Summer Romance has to leave behind a disappointing odds on defeat at Ascot. Ahead of her in fourth that day was a slightly unlucky in running Dark Lady. She has subsequently run two good races over 7f in this Group 3 company. The step back to 6f looks likely to suit, and not only does she have favourable form with the favourite but with a few others here and she looks twice the price she should be.

Puds, (1610 Salisbury), 4/1: this sprinting filly has been in consistently good form all Summer including an excellent second last time over 5f at Chelmsford. Back over 6f on turf, this race looks a bit easier than some she has been competing in of late. She travels well, handles any ground and has a useful turn of foot, and this is her best winning chance for some time.

Flying Sakhee, (1615 Lingfield), 8/1: a moderate mare but able when in form and won twice here last Summer. Burst back to form when nosed out here recently at 50/1, and has runs well here again twice since. These are her conditions and she has one of the stringer apprentices in the plate.

Starfighter, (1640 Salisbury), 4/1: consistent handicapper has looked on a fair mark with three runner-up efforts in his last three runs. By Sea The Stars, he may improve for the little cut in the ground and he also gets a first liaison with champion elect Oisin Murphy. That may be the extra edge he needs to turn from best man to groom.
