NFL: Chiefs lead tasty treble…

It’s the first Sunday of the new NFL season and the Super Bowl seems a long way away. We’ve already provided some tips for the season as a whole, but this post will concentrate on tonight’s games.

Our first selection in today’s treble is the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs were one of the star teams of last year, and still contain a high powered offence, including last season’s MVP QB Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins. It’s true they have had trouble stopping the run, and the Jags can run, but we’ll side with the explosive Chiefs to score points for fun.

Next up is the New York Jets to beat the Buffalo Bills. Two of the NFL’s big under achievers meet in week one, but it looks like to us the Jets have more of a chance of improvement this season. They have a new head coach in Adam Gase and a superstar running back, Le’Veon Bell from the Steelers. Throw in the promise of QB Sam Darnold and home field advantage and we’ll take the Jets to win this one.

Finally we have the Minnesota Vikings to defeat the Atlanta Falcons. These two teams have the potential to be serious players in the post season playoff picture but have disappointed of late. The Falcons are led by QB Matt Ryan and field superstar wide receiver Julio Jones, but these class players will come up against one of the best defensive units in the league, Mike Zimmer’s Vikings. We look for home field advantage to pay off and the Vikings to win a tight encounter.

Recommendation: Chiefs, Jets and Vikings all to win as a treble, 1 pt, at 7/2, Paddy Power
