Friday Yankee: Strong Soot?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Sootability, (1655 Ayr), 1pt win, 3/1:

Richard Fahey’s filly had been toiling to no avail until a slipping rating coincided with a burst back to form for an easy win at Carlisle. That was soon followed by the narrowest of defeats over 10f at Epsom. This step back to a mile should suit, she is 3lbs well in off her old rating and this looks easier than Epsom. The day’s banker.

Tommy G, (1545 Ayr), 13/2: The Bronze Cup gives us a taster of tomorrow’s big sprints. Pendleton is handicapped to win and should go well but a big field like this is a bit of an unknown. In contrast Tommy G loves this type of test having form of 213 in three editions of the Stewards Cup consolation and an unlucky 8th in this last year. Goes on any ground but his best is on this type of surface and the booking of top jockey Danny Tudhope looks significant. He can edge out Pendleton in a reverse forecast opportunity.

Alright Sunshine, (1620 Ayr), 7/4: we have been supporters of this improving sort all summer. He is on the up and up despite looking like he still has plenty to learn. Probably should have won a good race at Haydock last time but got pipped having looked he winner. Pulled well clear of the rest then and still looks to have headroom off this mark. Sometimes these horses end the season with a downer when they’ve had enough, but he should still have a win in him here against this opposition.

Be Proud, (1730 Ayr), 11/4: in form and versatile contender having been unlucky in running in all three of his recent runs finishing runner-up each time. That was over an extended mile, 7f and even 5f earlier this week. This trip could be perfect and although he is a couple of pounds out of the handicap it will be a surprise if this can’t still be a winning mark.
