Saturday Yankee: Gulliver has giant chance…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Gulliver, (1550 Ayr), 2pts win, 15/2:

Trainer David O’Meara should hold the key here with his multiple entries. Summerghand looks certain to make a top 4 finish but his consistency is being punished at the weights. His Gulliver looks good on quick ground and traveled over to Ireland for an unlucky fast finishing third last week. The winner there Buffer Zone, is favourite today, but he is the one travelling over this time, and a 5lb penalty makes it tough should Gulliver get a clearer run.

Kynren, (1400 Ayr), 5/2: a blog regular and perhaps the horse most deserving of a big handicap win having been knocking on the door all season. May have preferred it to stay softer, which would have made him a multiple point nap selection. Should still win on this quickening ground, but it’s enough to drop nap status.

Admirality, (1440 Ayr), 12/1: the Silver Cup is dominated by a Michael Stoute 3yo in Alkaraama. He has an obvious chance although his recent Ascot second is no more than solid. Instead, there could be value in Admirality. He won well on seasonal debut on quick ground and has been consistent since. Travels really well but doesn’t always see it through over 7f. Looks for all the world as though 6f could be the key but his two previous efforts this season at the trip were masked by unsuitably soft ground. Worth backing on better ground in this big field.

Shamad, (1730 Ayr), 5/1: This Irish raider was our nemesis last time when denying us a massively payout when pipping the unlucky Black Kalanisi. That said, it is worth being forgiving, as the slow pace that day would not have suited this guy either and be he stayed by on well having been initially outpaced. This longer trip should help.
