Another Sunday and another chance for us to land a tasty NFL treble.
The key position in an American Football team is the quarterback. They are the heartbeat of the offence, calling and often undertaking each attacking move. Successful teams have quality QBs, who then become expensive making it tricky to have a quality backup in case of injury.
Turning to today’s games, the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to the San Francisco 49ers without their Super Bowl winning QB Ben Roethlisberger. The hosts have won both of their opening games, and we’ll take them to cover a 6.5 spread against the Steelers.
The second match sees Seattle Seahawks host the New Orleans Saints. Now we are fans of the Saints, and particularly QB Drew Brees. However, the ageing star has just undergone surgery on an injured thumb. With this in mind we’ll take the hosts to cover a five point spread.
Finally, we’re going to back the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cover a six point spread against the New York Giants. The Buccs are sitting top of NFC South, but the main issue here is the form of Eli Manning. The Giants QB has been a star in the past, winning two Super Bowls, but age seems to be catching up with him and there is the likelihood he is dropped for this game. It’s tricky for a new QB to take control and so we’ll side with the hosts.
Recommendations: Seahawks, 49ers and Buccs to cover their spreads as a treble, 1 pt, at approximately 6/1, Paddy Power
