Wednesday Yankee: Cracking Side bet …

A good, and slightly overdue winning nap yesterday as Dubai Acclaim (4/1) enjoyed a trouble free run to win comfortably at Beverley. More of the same?….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Pettochside, (1720 Goodwood), 1pt win, 5/1:

Veteran Goodwood lover whose form here on ground softer than good reads 111220103. Ran pretty well to be 4th at Chepstow last time and now gets his conditions here for the first time for a year. Was rated in the 90s throughout last season but has collapsed to just 63 here. He can arrest that decline under these ideal conditions.

Lydiate Lady, (1420 Redcar), 3/1: won here during a prolific spell two years ago. It’s been a long wait since, but her effort when second at Hamilton in Sunday was hugely eye-catching. She bounced off in front only to get involved in a duel for the lead, her protagonist faded into last, but she kept on bravely to the line only to be run out of it. If she can relax in front today she is absolutely on a winning mark.

Enigmatic, (1430 Goodwood), 6/1: Tukhoom is 5lbs well in but his inexperienced jockey will have to be tactically astute from a wide draw. Instead it can pay to back last year’s winner to repeat. He was an easy winner there, goes on this soft ground and is only 2lb higher than last year once the gift that is Cieren Fallon’s claim is taken into account.

Quench Dolly, (1505 Goodwood), 5/1: it’s nearly 2 years since she collected her second course win when storming clear here in the soft off a mark of 93. Things have been much quieter this year and she comes here off a small break and now off just 78. Has her ideal conditions and plenty of money for her suggests she may be showing something closer to her best in preparation. Also gets the golden claim of Cieren Fallon.
