The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Roulston Scar, (1655 Ascot), 1pt, 3/1:
A winner for us at York where he blitzed his field under Megan Nicholls. They team up again and even an 8lb rise may struggle to arrest his progress. Won really well previously on soft at Pontefract, so unlikely to be beaten by the conditions, and as a 3yo having just his 10th run he could still be on the up.
Sapa Inca, (1435 Ascot), 12/1: won well for us on good ground here at the Shergar Cup under today’s jockey over 12f. Wasn’t so good at Hamilton last time but not every horse enjoys that track. Had a wide margin win on her only soft ground start and the extra distance could bring out more improvement. Stablemate I’ll Have Another is the only rival much better in at these weights but wide margin defeats on soft the last twice suggests she could be beatable.
Raydiance, (1510 Ascot), 2/1: at his best on soft ground which makes his good third on a good surface at Ayr last time an even better return to form than it looked. Gets his ground again here and can take full advantage of both a big drop in the ratings, and arguably the best amateur jockey in the business.
Platform Nineteen, (1545 Ascot), 2/1: Has won four on the bounce including a solid win when we picked him at York last time. Up another 6lbs so arguably getting closer to the handicapper’s grip, but can find a little more for this return to the kind of soft surface that saw probably his best win at Nottingham.
