The early game in the Premier League this afternoon pits Brighton with Tottenham at the Amex Stadium on the south coast.
Spurs had a disastrous Champions League outing midweek, conceding seven goals at home to Bayern Munich. That was a chastening result and it will be interesting to see how they react.
They now travel to a Brighton side that are not in the best of form either, having lost at Chelsea last weekend, and stand just one point off the relegation zone.
Spurs conceded goal after goal to Bayern chasing the game, but they are unlikely to do so today. We think they will defend deeply and try and catch the hosts on the break with the pace of the likes of Son Heung-min. The Korean has been one of Tottenham’s best players so far this season, and we’ll take a punt that he scores first.
The late game sees West Ham take on Crystal Palace at the London Stadium. Both teams have started the season brightly – the Hammers currently lie fifth and Palace ninth.
That said, the past encounters tend to suggest a home win. Palace have only won five of 26 meetings between the two in the top division and West Ham are unbeaten in the last eight.
With this in mind we’ll side with the Hammers today. Andriy Yarmolenko has scored three goals in his last four Premier League appearances. He’s just over 2/1 to score anytime today, but we’ll take the 7/1 on offer that he nets first.
Recommendations:
Brighton/Spurs: Son to score first, 1 pt, at 6/1, bet365
West Ham/Crystal Palace: Yarmolenko to score first, 1 pt, at 7/1, bet365
