Premier League: Two for Tammy…

There are four games from the Premier League today, but we’ll concentrate on the two televised matches.

The early game sees Chelsea travel to the south coast to take on Southampton. The Blues have the chance to move into the top four with a win, as the new regime under Frank Lampard begins to bear fruit.

Southampton have won only two of their last 20 league games with Chelsea and are winless in five home matches at St. Mary’s. Only Watford have a worse home record that today’s hosts. This all points to an away win.

Tammy Abraham is the joint leading scorer in the Premier League this season, and we expect him to get on the scoresheet today. He’s just over evens to score anytime but we’ll take the 13/2 that SkyBet offers for him to score a brace.

The late game sees Newcastle entertain Manchester United at St. James’ Park. It wasn’t so long ago that this was a key game in deciding the title’s destination, but times change.

The hosts lie one off the bottom of the table while the visitors are in the bottom half. Newcastle have won just one game in eight attempts thus season, drawing three times, while the Red Devils have won just twice in the league, drawing three matches.

These two teams have struggled with the same problem – a lack of goals. Newcastle have scored just four league goals while Man United couldn’t even muster a shot on target in their Europa League match mid week.

We’re tempted with a bet on a goalless draw, but both sides are also prone to defensive lapses. With this in mind we’ll settle for betting on a draw.

Recommendations:

Southampton/Chelsea: Abraham to score twice, 1 pt, at 13/2, SkyBet

Newcastle/Man United: A draw, 1 pt, at 12/5, Bet Victor
