Tuesday Yankee: Cross your palm with Silver…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Silverturnstogold, (1505 Brighton), 1pt win, 7/1:

A big field but this fella has run really well here the last twice finishing well to be placed both times off this mark of 60. His third last time was a decent effort, but good apprentice Angus Villiers takes over and utilises his 7lbs claim to run off a net 53. That looks persuasive.

Group Stage, (1350 Leicester), 13/2: was in pretty good form in the spring on soft ground before failing on quicker ground last time. Has had a big mid season break and looks the type to do well in a late Autumn campaign before potentially going juvenile hurdling. This race looks a good place to start and jockey Megan Nicholls is great value for her claim.

Hammy End, (1610 Brighton), 13/2: has been in good form all Summer being placed four times since his last win. Should go close off much the same mark, but arguably has run into some well handicapped horses lately, and with Cieren Fallon’s 3lb claim he could be back in the winner’s enclosure here. Irish raider Tremwedge has shown little in three runs but travels a suspiciously long was for his handicap debut and has been very well backed and is surely too short.

Westbrook Bertie, (1655 Catterick), 4/1: dual purpose horse with heavy ground winning form who reached a level of 125 over hurdles. Should be very competitive off this flat rating of 72, and makes his seasonal debut very late in the season for a stable that is in flying end of season form. Travels a good way up from Lambourn and can land the prize.
