There’s only one game scheduled in the Premier League this afternoon, but what a match – Manchester United versus Liverpool.
This clash is between England’s two most successful sides, but this bare fact doesn’t detail the current state of health of the two clubs. Liverpool arrive at Old Trafford as the European Champions and the league leaders, while United languish in 14th place – 15 points behind their fierce rivals this early in the season.
Liverpool are clear favourites, but their recent record at the Theatre of Dreams is not impressive – they haven’t won in their last six visits. They won’t get a better chance to break that run.
We think Liverpool will win today but given their record, and the likely fired up nature of United, we’re not prepared to bet on it. That said, they will have a lot if the ball and the United midfield will have to strain to keep them at bay.
The new breed of United midfielder is led by Scot McTominay, and he will have to put tackle after tackle in to keep the talented visitors at bay. He’s likely to mistime one, and we think the 7/2 on offer that he sees yellow offers value.
McTominay to be booked, 1 pt, at 7/2, BetVictor
