A frustrating run of a winner a day continued with yesterday’s yankee. Thankfully that winner was the day’s nap, Bo Samraan, who was friendless in the market (blog subscribers aside), and hence returned a surprisingly generous SP of 6/1.

NAP OF THE DAY: Blacklooks, (1550 Curragh ), 1pt win, 7/2:
Defied in running odds of 1000/1 when getting up in the dying strides over 7f at Tipperary last week. Only 4lbs higher here and he can only have better luck in running, whilst an extra furlong should help based on last time’s flying finish.
Lord Halifax, (1525 Yarmouth), 5/2: both Matewan and Westbrook Bertie have good claims here, but it’s rare at this stage of the season to see a well bred 3yo making his handicap debut, and Lord Halifax could be thrown in here off the rater’s initial guess of 72. The tongue tie is on, the ground should suit, and he can be too much to handle.
Sarasota Bay, (1630 Yarmouth ), 9/2: is still a maiden after 8 starts but her closest efforts came off higher marks than this on soft and heavy ground in the Spring. Her mark has slipped on lesser efforts on faster ground but reunited with the mud she looks well in to break that duck.
Turn To Rock, (1900 Kempton), 7/2: still a maiden after 7 runs, 6 of them here, but has run consistently well throughout. Now drops a furlong and the blinkers go on, which is an interesting combination which could see an end to hold up tactics. If the changes can eek out any improvement it should be enough to register that first win.
