The footballing weekend starts on the south coast as Bournemouth host Manchester United.
It’s not easy to call this one. Games involving Bournemouth at home have tended in the past to be open, free-scoring affairs. But they have only conceded once in their last three games, so this game could be tighter than would usually be expected. That said, United seem to be gaining in confidence and will have taken a great deal from their win at Stamford Bridge midweek.
The main thing that stood out from United’s League Cup win against Chelsea was the stunning free kick winner by Marcus Rashford. Surely this means he takes any similar options today, and there could be a few if Bournemouth are more aggressive in defence. He will do so with confidence. We’ll take the 11/1 on offer that he scores from outside the penalty area.
The late game is a London derby with Watford hosting Chelsea.
Surely this equates to an away win. Watford lie bottom of the Premier League table, without a win so far this season. Chelsea, on the flip side, were on a seven match winning run before Wednesday’s League Cup loss to Manchester United. They are the league’s top scorers in away games, and we think it’s likely they will triumph this evening, probably scoring quite a few in the process.
Chelsea’s main goal threat this season has been Tammy Abraham, and the 6/1 on him scoring twice does interest. However, we saw that Brazilian midfielder Willian was rested midweek and we think this means he’s likely to start. He scored last weekend, and we’ll take him to net again today.
Recommendations:
Bournemouth/Manchester United: Rashford to score from outside the penalty area, 1 pt, at 11/1, SkyBet
Watford/Chelsea: Willian to score anytime, 1 pt, at 3/1, Betway
