The early game this afternoon sees Crystal Palace host high-flying Leicester at Selhurst Park.
The Foxes can move into third with a win today and come fresh off a 9-0 thrashing of Southampton in the league. They are playing well at the moment and will be difficult to stop.
That said, Palace are not exactly underperforming at the moment. They could move into fifth with a win and caused Arsenal a lot of trouble last time out when drawing 2-2 at the Emirates.
This is not an easy game to predict, so we’re not going to, but we have noted that VAR has started awarding much more subjective penalties these days. Luka Milivojevic is Palace’s penalty king. His two goals this season were from the spot, and 10 of his 12 last year. He’s only 9/2 to score anytime today, while it’s 9/1 for Palace to have a successful penalty. That seems mismatched.
The late game sees Everton host Tottenham, with both teams in desperate need of a win.
Having spent heavily over the summer, Everton have lost five of their last six Premier League games to lie just one spot off the relegation zone. The pressure is truly on.
And Spurs are not that much better. They stand 13th in the league, and this is the team that got to the Champions League final last season. Their away record is a joke – no wins in 11 games – but there were signs at Anfield last weekend that the team had turned the corner.
Harry Kane opened the scoring last weekend at Anfield and has an impressive scoring record against today’s opponents – he has scored two goals in each of his last four games against Everton. We’ll take him to open the scoring today.
