Champions League: Spurs to slip up in Belgrade…

There is another round of Champions League fixtures tonight, with the two English sides having tricky games away from home.

Tottenham travel east to take on Red Star Belgrade knowing that defeat here would make it very difficult to qualify for the knockout phase. Spurs beat tonight’s opponents heavily last time out, but the return fixture is not going to be as easy. Firstly, Tottenham’s away record is poor this year and, secondly, Red Star are a different team at home, good enough to beat Liverpool last year.

Tottenham are favourites to win tonight, but we can get 4/1 on Red Star winning, which we consider a fair price for a team that has yet to lose to an English side at home in this competition.

The second game sees Manchester City travel to Italy to take on Atalanta, knowing a win tonight would cement their place in the knockout phase early.

The Italian team is clearly not going to be as easy to defeat at home, even though they are playing in the San Siro and not their usual stadium. However, City manager Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he’s not taking this game lightly, even with a big game against Liverpool on the weekend.

With this in mind we’ll side with midfield maestro Kevin de Bruyne to score for City. Strikers Aguero and Jesus are both odds on to score, as is winger Sterling. So we’ll take 3/1 on offer for the Belgian to net.

Recommendations:

Red Star/Tottenham: Red Star to win, 1 pt, at 4/1, Unibet

Atalanta/Man City: De Bruyne to score, 1 pt, at 3/1, Betway
