The European Tour heads to the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course this week for the Turkish Airlines Open.
Justin Rose is the defending champion and is attempting to win this title for the third time in a row. Clearly he has a chance, but the event has moved courses and the English star has not been at his usual metronomic self of late. We’ll pass.
The course this event is now played on includes five par fives, an unusual setup. With this in mind we’ll side with a bomber. Thomas Pieters looked to have slipped into the wilderness after his Ryder Cup debut. But he showed something of a return to form when winning the Czech Masters in August. We’ll take a punt on him this week.
Our second selection is Haotong Li. The Chinese Star finished second at this event in 2016 and 2018 (admittedly at a different course) and comes fresh off a strong performance at the Sheehan International last week. He drives the ball well and we think he will go close this week.
Pieters to win, 1 pt, at 35/1, SkyBet
Li to win, 1 pt, at 28/1, widely available
