Thursday Yankee: Going for Gold…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Amoola Gold, (1540 Newbury), 1pt win, 4/1:

A mixed bunch, but Dan Skelton’s 6yo is the one with arguably the most potential.  His novice form from this time last year has worked out superbly and he looks well in on this rating.  The obvious issue is the near year off the track, but this stable is one of the most adept at bringing them back from a break.

Magic Dancer, (1255 Newbury), 7/2:  showed some good form in major handicaps last season including a second in the Betfair off 125.  Probably doesn’t have too much in hand off this 128, but has run well on seasonal reappearance on more than one occasion, and that’s enough to win this threadbare event.

Alrightjack, (1510 Newbury), 11/2:  the favourites here have doubts – ground and return to hurdles – and this could lie between the potentially well treated Gunfleet and the unexposed Alrightjack.  Both appeal, but the younger horse has the most scope to be significantly better that his current mark.

Timberman, (1615 Newbury), 5/1:  plenty of strong yards present for this bumper, but with the Nicholls and Fry newcomers worrying already in hoods, it may pay to look at the Henderson duo.  Son Of Camas must be held in high regard having been shipped over to debut (disastrously) in a valuable Punchestown bumper.  But De Boinville rides point to point runner up Timberman, and he looks like he could be the pick today.
