Premier League: Stalemate at Anfield…

There are a few games scheduled Sunday in the Premier League but all eyes will be on Anfield as top of the table Liverpool take on defending champions Manchester City.

This game has become the big one in the league over the last couple of years. Most expect this match to be one of flowing, attacking football given the way both sides tend to play.

However, we remember the way the equivalent game went last season, a goalless draw, with both sides seemingly happy with a point. A stalemate means Liverpool remain six points clear of their main rivals while City can think that a victory over the Reds at the Etihad later in the season would cut the gap to the equivalent of one slip up.

The odds of a draw are around 5/2, but we’ll take the extra points for a 1-1 this time around.

The early game is a West Midlands derby, with Wolves hosting Aston Villa. The hosts have had a lot of games this season given their participation in the Europa League, but they are now starting to show their true form.

They are unbeaten in their last six league games, coming from behind to draw their last three 1-1. Additionally, they have scored a league-high 86% of their goals in the second half. With this in mind we’ll take their key striker Raul Jimenez to score the last goal of the game.

Recommendations:

Liverpool/Man City: A 1-1 draw, 1 pt, at 13/2, bet365

Aston Villa/Wolves: Jimenez to score the last goal, 1 pt, at 4/1, Unibet
