Thursday Yankee: Go Long…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Longhousesignora, (1600 Ludlow), 1pt win, 5/1:

A relatively lightly raced mare representing the in form Venetia Williams.  Her form here of 231 includes her sole win under rules, and she was a fine 3rd chasing on seasonal debut at Worcester.  Jockey Lucy Turner rides well and has a big chance of adding another win.

La Cavsa Nostra, (1410 Sedgefield), 5/4:  was a smooth winner at Chepstow first time out this season under today’s jockey.  Unseated his amateur owner early on at Warwick last time, but looks to have been given an easy opportunity to make amends.

Monalee, (1450 Clonmel), 6/4:    An interesting race that should be a match between Monalee and the legendary Douvan.  Douvan hasn’t won in three runs since Feb 17, albeit this is his easiest task.  But 2m4f is an unknown and the Mullins horses have generally needed their comeback runs.  Monalee has no doubts about the trip, is tactically simple, and should have the edge today.

Uhlan Bute, (1455 Ludlow), 5/1:  a veteran and by far the eldest here, normally would be overlooked but Venetia Williams excels with older horses and is in flying form.  This fella has won here before, and although beaten miles at Cheltenham on seasonal debut he was bang there until fading late on.
