Saturday Yankee: River banker?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Big River, (1350 Cheltenham), 2pts win, 4/1:

A fine big chaser who was one of the fastest Festival finishers when fourth in the Ultima.  Followed that with a similar late rattle for fifth in the Scottish National.  That form is enough to go close here, but the heavy ground is an added plus and an off season wind op can only help.  Looks a good bet off a fair weight.

Happy Diva, (1425 Cheltenham), 12/1:  market leaders Slate House and Siruh Du Lac have big chances but both have to overcome lumpy weight rises.  Happy Diva is proven in the mud, stays well, and may have won this last year but for being brought down when cruising 4 from home.  Made a nice comeback run without ruining her mark and looks a good price.

Anteros, (1500 Cheltenham), 10/1:  a couple of older types – Tobefair and Eminent Poet – should love the ground, but both are now well above their highest winning marks.  Anteros however, very much a veteran, is lower than when winning this race in the past.  Goes well in mud, and has won three minor chases lately showing he’s in fair form.  He’s out of the handicap but his jockey claims 3 back and his featherweight is worth more in the quagmire.

Treasure Dillon, (1530 Cheltenham), 10/1:  was improving at the end of last season and ran a good comeback run here last month.  Stable is in good form right now and is another who gets to run in the mud off a featherweight relative to many of his rivals.
