Both English clubs managed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League last night, and both Liverpool and Chelsea will be looking to follow Manchester City and Tottenham tonight.
Chelsea start the ball rolling, with a tough game at Valencia. The Blues lie second in their group, behind Ajax, and will qualify if they win this evening.
Chelsea are favourites to win, but they did lose at home to today’s opponents in the opening group match and they have struggled away from home against top notch teams.
Valencia have won three of their last four home games in the Champions League, and a price of 3/1 for them to win tonight seems like a good deal.
The later game sees Liverpool take on Napoli, with the winner qualifying for the next round.
The hosts have been on a run since losing 2-0 to today’s opponents, winning each of their last three Champions League games, but they have tended to make hard work of this.
That said, games at Anfield tend to produce goals, and in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain they have a player who is getting back to the sort of form that excited both his club and international managers before injury. He has scored in his last two Champions League appearances, has been encouraged to shoot by Jurgen Klopp, and we’ll hope he does so again.
Recommendations:
Valencia/Chelsea: Valencia to win, 1 pt, at 3/1, BetFred
Liverpool/Napoli: Oxlade-Chamberlain to score, 1 pt, at 100/30, Unibet
