Saturday Yankee: Could it be Magic?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Magic Saint, (1540 Newbury), 2pts win, 4/1:

He looked useful after arriving from France but failed to confirm the form of an easy Wincanton win when beaten at Cheltenham. Returned at that track for a fair 5th in the BetVictor Gold Cup.  Nicholls’ horses have improved for a run, and the return to a flat track and 2m looks ideal and he can now deliver on that earlier promise.

The Cashel Man, (1350 Newbury), 7/1:  An open looking handicap in which local trainer Nicky Henderson looks to hold a strong hand. Downtown Getaway looks marginally first choice on jockey bookings, but experienced Flat horse The Cashel Man may be the one to enjoy this long straight and the demands on stamina.

Epatante, (1425 Newbury), 9/2:  Nicky Henderson’s mare looked a bit special after arriving from France last year but was a flop as favourite last time at the Cheltenham Festival.  The break may have freshened her up, she should be stronger, and she looks sure to enjoy the flat track here more than the undulations at Cheltenham.  This could be the best time to get her in a race the trainer likes to target

Cabaret Queen, (1500 Newbury), 9/1:  wouldn’t have been a contender on last year’s form for Dan Skelton, but the move to Willie Mullins worked the oracle when she sauntered home in the Munster National.  The stable win that with a similar recruit Total Recall who then won this, and although she has been hiked up substantially, it would be no surprise to see Willie back in the winner’s enclosure ahead of Henderson pair OK Corral and On The Blind Side.
