Sunday Yankee: Honey money?

After yesterday’s Saturday Yankee heroics, it’s once again thanks to Ireland to produce meaningful Sunday racing, and it rarely gets any better than today’s Fairyhouse feast….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Honeysuckle, (1430 Fairyhouse), 1pt win, 2/1:

Purely on ratings this is a shoo-in for Apples Jade, but she was well below her best on seasonal debut, and although likely to improve she may have her own ideas now about the game.  No such issues with up and coming unbeaten Honeysuckle whose seasonal debut was up there with her best form.  Looks an outstanding challenger.

Envoi Allen, (1300 Fairyhouse), 5/6:  the unbeaten Cheltenham bumper winner looked very impressive on hurdling debut.  His future may lie over 2m4f, but although this is a well contested event he really should be much shorter odds on, it would be a big surprise to see him beaten.

Fakir D’Oudairies, (1400 Fairyhouse), 7/4: Was one of last season’s best juvenile hurdles and immediately became one of this season’s best chases when winning on debut beating the double Champion Hurdle runner up Melon.  Fakir won well and still gets the useful weight for age allowances until the new year.  Samcro is the obvious threat depending on whether he is the 2018 superstar or 2019 dud, recency bias suggests the later.

Janidil (1510 Fairyhouse), 4/1:  a cracking handicap that looks sure to go to one of JP’s green and gold.  This fella looked sharply on the up when winning easily last time.  He has been cranked up 10lbs for that, but that may not be enough to hamper his chances.
