Wednesday Yankee: Feet first?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Those Tiger Feet, (1510 Ludlow), 1pt win, 2/1:

We are typically numbers fans and the maths here suggest Urtheonethatiwant should be hard to beat off the same mark as when a cosy winner here recently.  But although Those Tiger Feet is 8lbs higher than for his narrow Exeter win, that looks very good form.  Kim Bailey’s runner steps up 6f to the 3m trip that should be the making of him and he has much more scope than his market rival.

Ashfield Paddy,  (1250 Haydock), 7/2:  Irish point winner with bags of promise in two recent maiden hurdle runs at Uttoxeter.  Looks significant that trainer Jonjo send him straight into handicaps now off a generous looking mark of 112.  Useful young conditional jockey Ed Austin maintains the ride even though trainer’s son Jonjo Jnr was available.

Diamond Gait, (1330 Ludlow), 5/1:  a good mares handicap in which recent easy Hereford winner Darling Du Large is the obvious favourite.  That said, top weight Diamond Gait is an interesting class-dropper.  She has won three times in novice company with her six defeats coming either in Listed and above grade or at Cheltenham.  This flat track and the drop to handicap class could see her go well, and whilst she has top weight, the rating of 126 looks well within her ability.

Informateur, (1530 Haydock), 11/4:  an interesting battle between two horses up 7lbs on their last runs.  True Romance earned a hike even though he dawdled with a winning lead to throw it away at Musselburgh.  His jockey will try and wait longer here but may find it hard to pass the battling Informateur.  His 7lb rise is a penalty for a surging 10l Uttoxeter success.  He’ll probably go up more than that when re-rated and he can guts it out over the speedy True Romance.
