Monday Yankee: Goodness Gracious…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Gracious John, (1500 Lingfield), 1pt win, 3/1:

This previously high class all weather sprinter who had been in decline throughout 2019.  Thankfully the handicapper has reflected that and he is 10lbs lower than when placed on his last visits here in the Spring.  A decent 2nd last time at Chelmsford signalled a return to some form, and the return to his favourite track can see him back in front.

The Lacemaker, (1330 Lingfield), 7/4:  a consistent mare whose cosy win here improved an already decent course record to 32141.  Good young apprentice keeps the ride and claims 5lbs, and the mare has an ideal draw.  Looks a solid favourite in an average race.

Billy Wedge,  (1745 Newcastle), 2/1:  consistent workhorse over this course and distance.  Won quite nicely here recently and ran ok upped to this mark next time in a race that didn’t quite work out for him tactically.  A staying on 3rd over 6f last time showed he remains in great heart and the return to 7f can do the trick.

Global Humor, (1815 Newcastle ), 13/2:  has been on pretty good form here culminating in a smooth come from behind win off a mark of 59.  Runs here off just 62 but his rider’s 7lb claim means an effective mark of 55.  His hold up running style should suit this race well and he looks fair value.
