Our yankee placings yesterday were 1-2-3-4, which frustratingly left sole winner Clondaw Robin (12/1 early, 5/1 SP) stranded at a nice price.

NAP OF THE DAY: Engrossed, (1240 Lingfield), 1pt win, 11/4:
This 3yo filly is very lightly raced but capable of running to form off a lay-off so the 4 month break since a game win at Wolverhampton is not too concerning. She looked good that day and yet is only 2lbs higher given she prevailed in a blanket finish. That probably understated her superiority which gives her room to compete off her new mark.
Before Midnight, (1400 Leicester), 6/1: Coolanly is a warm favourite here after finishing second last time to Saturday’s Grade 1 winner. But the market may have overreacted and trainer Nicky Henderson runs two interesting types; Pistol Whipped looks good, but jockey Nico De Boinville is on Before Midnight, who was fancied for the big EBF final. He bombed out there but Sandown is not everyone’s cup of tea and he can go well here on his chasing debut.
Lastin Memories, (1450 Hexham), 5/2: made an excellent seasonal and chasing debut when staying on well for second here last time. Today’s rival Bering Upsun looked a real contender on that race until a bad mistake 3 out. He’ll need to put that behind him and Lastin Memories can be expected to improve for the run and looks the more solid.
The Crooner, (1530 Leicester), 7/1: Little Rory Mac landed a much publicised gamble at Market Rasen last week on which form he remains well in here. But an odds on shot in a heavy ground Leicester handicap cannot be value. When the ground is this bad look for Venetia Williams, and her horse The Crooner has some pretty good soft ground form and is on a fair mark after disappointing firstly on good ground and then over a longer trip. This looks more suitable and he can shock the favourite.
