Thursday Yankee: The day for Nights?…

A nice start to 2020 with yesterday’s nap selection Doing Fine (11/2) getting us off to a flyer, and the added win of Skandiburg (5/1) ensuring a fair profit from the yankee.  It’s on to the sands today for some flat action.:.

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Wailea Nights, (1245 Lingfield), 1pt win, 5/2:

We are at a midpoint between two flat turf seasons and pretty much at the low point in terms of finding unexposed promising types.  That helps punters, and an exposed last time winner like Wailea Nights has a great chance of following up against modest opposition.  His 7lb rise is negated by a useful apprentice and should leave him back on a winning mark.

Purdey’s Gift, (1455 Lingfield), 15/8:  this colt hasn’t seen much racing and after a nice Wolves win he was repeatedly unlucky in finishing 3rd in a decent little Kempton race.  Not much here to be scared of and he should justify favouritism with ease.

Gallipoli, (1700 Chelmsford), 6/1:  this 7yo hails from a top stable but had a low key 2019, although that has seen his rating slip back to a handy 85 allowing him in as the class act here.   Has often run well off a break and has a record a this track of 3rd and 1st in his two runs both off 86.  The 6 months break should have freshened him up, he has a crucial good draw, and he looks dangerous.

Kick On Kick On, (1730 Chelmsford), 5/1:  looked set for a good 2019 after a strong 3yo campaign, but an early Newbury placing off 95 was as good as it got.  Has moved stables and reappeared on debut for Ian Williams with a promising running on 5th at Wolves.  Any improvement from that run, and for the new yard, would make his rating of 87 look very attractive.
