Friday Yankee: Seymour business…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Seymour Sox, (1310 Hereford), 1pt win, 2/1:

He hadn’t shown much in novices and an opening mark of 97 was hard to assess at Uttoxeter last time.  That said, a narrow defeat miles clear of the rest was much easier to assess, and a modest 3lb rise should be no trouble under the flying Bryan Carver.

Eagle Ridge, (1250 Musselburgh), 7/2:  still a maiden but came closest to breaking his duck over this course and distance when a close 3rd off 89.  Looked likely to go close until the petrol ran dry over a longer trip last time, and returned to this distance he can chalk up a win against a very unconvincing bunch.

Missesgeejay, (1355 Musselburgh), 8/1:  not too many of these look convincing and that leaves a gap.  Missesgeejay may be a 10yo mare but she was very lightly raced until early last year.  She has placed a few times off higher ratings on soft ground but is bred to prefer a better surface.  Worth risking at a big price now she finally gets decent ground.

Holly James, (1415 Hereford), 3/1:  plenty of these ran well last time making for a competitive market.  However, it’s the Evan Williams trained novice Holly James that could have the most in hand.  He ran in a good novice at Chepstow last tine, and although he wasn’t going to win, he was still in a good second when tipping up 2 out.  This is a much lower grade and the handicapper’s first stab of 115 looks very workable.
