NFL: Bills to go wild…

The NFL post season starts tonight, with the Houston Texans hosting the Buffalo Bills in a AFC wild card match.

The Texans are the marginal favourites for this game, largely based on them playing at home, but we like the Bills’ defence, ranked the second best in the league this season. Both have young, running quarterbacks, but we back the Bills to clamp down more easily on Texans star Deshaun Watson than the other way around.

A tight game, but we would rather take the 2.5 points handicap offered by the bookies and side with the visitors. We also like the idea of the Bills defence impressing, and will take the 7/2 on offer that the Bills defence/special teams score a touchdown anytime.

The late game sees the New England Patriots host the Tennessee Titans in the other AFC wild card clash.

The Pats are the defending champions but a humbling defeat to the unfancied Miami Dolphins in their last regular season match have dumped them into this wild card game. They are still favoured to beat the Titans, unsurprisingly given they still have the best quarterback of all time and probably the best coach.

But last weekend’s defeat was worrying, and they now face a confident Titans side that contains the league’s top rusher in Derrick Henry. New England are likely to win, but again we’ll take the outsiders with the spread, +4.5 points on this occasion.

New England coach Bill Belichick is one of the game’s great thinkers, and he will have new plans to try and get his team on the scoreboard. New tight end Matt LaCosse could be the answer, and we’ll take him as an anytime TD scorer.

Recommendations:

Both Bills and Titans to win with the spreads as a double, 1 pt, at approximately 3/1, Paddy Power

Bills defence/special teams to score a touchdown anytime, 1 pt, at 7/2, William Hill

LaCosse to score a touchdown anytime, 1 pt, at 19/2,Unibet
