The NFL Wild Card weekend continues today, and it’s now the turn of the NFC after last night’s excitement in the AFC.
First up is the Minnesota Vikings at the New Orleans Saints. The hosts are strong favourites today, but the two teams have history. In 2017 the Vikings won 29-24 thanks to a last second 61-yard touchdown pass. The Saints will also remember last year’s NFC Championship Game when they felt they were robbed by the lack of a penalty call.
The Saints feel it’s their time, and they are unlikely to let up until the game is won. So although they have to overcome a 7.5 point handicap, we think they will.
Additionally, we’re going to take Alvin Kamara to be the game’s first touchdown scorer. This running back is a key part of the Saints offence – his team are 24-1 in the three seasons when he rushes for 50 yards.
The late game sees the Seattle Seahawks travel east to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
This is a tricky game to predict – the bookies aren’t offering a handicap to either side. That said, while we note the Eagles have a number of injuries, we prefer to take the home team, particularly given the late momentum they developed in the regular season.
Finally, we’re going to side with Eagles tight end Zach Ertz to get on the score sheet with a touchdown. He’s around 2/1 to score, but we’ll take the 9/1 on offer that he scores twice.
Recommendations:
Saints to beat the spread and Eagles to win as a double, 1 pt, at approximately 5/2, William Hill
Kamara (Saints) to score first touchdown, 1 pt, at 13/2, William Hill
Ertz to score a brace of touchdowns, 1 pt, at 9/1, William Hill
