Tonight sees the first of the Carabao Cup semifinals, with Manchester United hosting their neighbours Manchester City.
The visitors have taken a liking to this tournament in recent times, winning three times in the last four and four times in the last six occasions. They are struggling to win the league title this season, trailing Liverpool by 13 points with the Merseyside club also having a game in hand. This may it extra onus on this cup competition.
Adding to this is the fact City recently lost to United at home in the league. This will irk, and they will be very keen to avenge that loss.
United won the recent league game 2-1 despite having around 25% of the possession. They caught City on the break, and will probably try and do the same again. However, United are playing at home tonight and it’s debatable whether the Old Trafford crowd will stand for a defensive performance. Also, City will now be well prepared.
We fancy the visitors today and will side with the brilliant Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. He has scored three of his seven league goals from outside the penalty area, and we will side with him to do so again tonight.
Recommendations: De Bruyne to score from outside the penalty area, 1 pt, at 10/1, SkyBet
