Saturday Yankee: Notre fame…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Notre Pari, (1440 Kempton), 2pts win, 11/4:

Got a typically quiet education off the radar in maiden hurdles but showed what he can do when winning on handicap debut for the in form Olly Murphy yard at Aintree last time.  That was the kind of performance we love, an impressive win that justified the 8lb rating rise, but screamed more to come.  He took a while to find top gear, but he powered home once the penny dropped.  He will have learnt from that and it will be a surprise if he’s not rated 15-20lbs higher by season end.

Arvico Bleu, (1410 Fairyhouse), 11/2:
has only one win and a string of near misses to his name.  This looks the time to back him – on seasonal debut after a break.  His in form trainer pitches him straight into this valuable race probably reasoning that as a free going sort he’ll be fit and eager.  Sitting just behind a very strong pace (guaranteed by madcap stablemate Ornua), could be ideal and he gets the sublime help of Rachael Blackmore.

The Conditional, (1500 Warwick), 4/1:  has been a revelation since transferring to his new stable from Ireland.  Won cozily in the mud at Cheltenham before raising his game to be a good second in the Ladbroke at Newbury.  Has crept a bit higher again but that is the best form here, he goes well in the mud, and the extra distance looks likely to suit.

Tedham, (1535 Warwick), 9/2:
we were on Jonjo’s potentially well-in hurdler last time for a big race at Haydock but he seemed ill suited to that track before running on too late for third.  He has had a nice break since, remains well treated, and 3m around here on soft ground looks much more like it.
