The PGA Tour heads to Torrey Pines in San Diego, California for the Farmers Insurance Open.
Rory McIlroy comes out of winter hibernation to tee off this week, and he’s the favourite at a course which is long and thus plays into his driving strength.
Rory has the chance to regain the world number one ranking this week, but we think this could additional pressure on a player who could be rusty. He’s also a very short price, so we’ll swerve.
We’re also fans of Jon Rahm, but he is also short in the betting markets. Instead we’re going to side with Collin Morikawa. The youngster was an amateur superstar and has translated that form into an impressive start on the PGA Tour. He comes from California and will likely enjoy the conditions. Climb aboard!
We’ve chanced our arms with Sungjae Im on a couple of occasions so far this season, and he’s come up just short. Instead our second selection this week will be Cameron Smith. The Australian has already won this year, and we hope this good form continues.
Recommendations:
Morikawa 0.5 pts each way at 30/1, 1:5 the odds for the first eight places, Paddy Power
Smith 0.5 pts each way at 45/1, 1/5 the odds for the first six places, William Hill
