Friday Yankee: Find the way…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Cracking Find, (1350 Doncaster), 1pt win, 4/1:

He won this race last year off a 3lb higher mark and loves these conditions.  Finished the season with a crashing Aintree fall and ran poorly three times before Christmas.  They were all at longer trips and at a time when the Sue Smith yard is rarely firing.  She is now with her traditional January surge and this fella looks weighted to keep up the good work.

Midnight’s Gift, (1425 Doncaster), 9/4:  filly lost her unbeaten hurdles record when thumped at Taunton, but that winner (Marie’s Rock) is a proper Cheltenham candidate.  Midnight’s previous run saw her neck and neck with Galice Macalo when that rival fell at the last.  The 5lb weight swing should favour Galice today, but she has to put that crashing fall behind her, and we prefer Midnight’s Gift.

Phoenix Way, (1435 Huntingdon), 7/2:  a cracking race in which this season’s form is represented by Goodbye Dancer but he faces two unexposed JP McManus challengers both coming off long breaks.   Palmers Hill could make a good chaser in time, and it’s Harry Fry’s Phoenix Way who may be the more ready to land this contest.

Maire Banrigh, (1505 Huntingdon), 1/1:  slick jumping bold front running mare who is on a winning streak.  This is her hardest task to date but she seems to be just getting better with racing.  This flat track should suit her tactics and her main rival was below par last time.
