The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Caravation, (1540 Naas), 1pt win, 3/1:
A useful mare who invariably runs well at this track. Has been keeping the highest company over fences and looks great value for this mark now she makes her handicap debut dropped in class against lesser rivals
Battle Of Wills, (1310 Naas), 9/4: we backed this guy a few times in the Summer during his flat campaign for James Tate. That was at a much higher level than these rivals and he looks a useful recruit for Joseph O’Brien. He stays well, has some scope, and it’s just his jumping that remains to be seen.
Like An Open Book, (1510 Naas), 12/1: a 10yo mare on a 17 race losing run, but she looked in rare form last time at Thurles until tipping up two from home. That was far enough from home not to be sure she would have seen it through, but the long odds are ample compensation for that risk.
Edwulf, (1610 Naas), 9/4: a rematch of a good race at Down Royal and reasons time believe Edwulf can improve on his third place. Much the best of these in his heyday, he was a bit unlucky in that race and gets a fair weight pull with all his opponents. Has a buoyant Derek O’Connor in the saddle hot from a big win at Doncaster yesterday.
