The European Tour makes an ethically questionable but financially lucrative stop in Saudi Arabi to conclude its Middle East swing.
Last week Victor Perez looked well set to land the spoils for us in Dubai until a windy last day and a total collapse. On the flip side, 90/1 shot Adri Arnaus put together a steady last round which in the conditions saw him shoot up to third and a tasty each way payout.
Those two are back this week as part of our “stable” for the year, along with Matthias Schwab and Robert MacIntyre.
We will stick loyal to Adri Arnaus after his good play last week. We only wish he could putt a little more convincingly, but length off the tee was crucial in this event last year and few are longer than the rangy Spaniard. He remains a decent each way price and should be riding a wave of confidence.
Tempting as it is to put MacIntyre on the list we will be patient as he continues his return from injury. He played superbly in Dubai and wins are just around the corner, but a greater emphasis on accuracy back in Europe will strengthen his hand.
So we will hit the copy and paste and put Victor Perez back in the firing line. He has to overcome the psychological set back of last Sunday’s demise, but his nascent career has had the roller coaster ride of a man gaining experience. His hallmark has been the ability to bounce back from one round to another and he can shoot some spectacular numbers. With the course made to measure we will give him another chance.
Recommendations:
Adri Arnaus, 0.5pts ew, 50/1, Unibet (1/5th top 6)
Victor Perez, 1pt win, 22/1 generally available
