The Premier League returns after having to make way for the FA Cup last weekend, and starts with a clash between Leicester and Chelsea.
This is a clash between two teams in the top four, with Leicester holding an eight point lead over today’s visitors. The Foxes will be smarting after missing out on a trip to Wembley midweek, while Chelsea need a win after failing to collect three points in their last two games.
This is a tricky game to call, with both teams playing attractive, attacking football.
Chelsea have been good on the counterattack in the recent past, and in the absence of leading scorer Tammy Abraham will be looking for another source of goals.
We’re going down a path previously trodden successfully, and will side with the Chelsea penalty taker Jorginho. The Blues have a number of talented wingers, and we’ll take a punt on a foul after a break.
The game sees Wolves travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
A few years ago this would be a safe home win, now we’re less sure. It’s true United were impressive in parts in winning at City in the Carabao Cup midweek, but they gave everything in that game. Contrast that with Wolves, who were able to rest players probably for the first time this season given their involvement in the Europa Cup.
United may well be under pressure from their home crowd to attack, but this could leave them open to be countered by a talented Wolves forward line.
We have been very impressed with Adama Traore this season, and he usually lines up on the right of the Wolves attack. This will put pressure on the left side of the United defence. Thus we’ll take United left back Luke Shaw to see yellow today.
Leicester/Chelsea: Jorginho to score anytime, 1 pt, at 11/2, Paddy Power
Manchester United/Wolves: Shaw to be booked, 1 pt, at 100/30, bet365
